Local-control evidence

Checked 24 September 2026. No direct local interface has been confirmed on the stock HWG023WBRF/HTV345FRF kit. The primary RainPoint integration documents cloud operation. RainPoint support states that HWG023 does not support direct LAN command transmission.

diivoo2mqtt is a relevant but distinct research lead. Its maintainer reports reverse-engineering the radio link and supports DIIVOO WT-07W, WT-09W, WT-11W(1) and WT-13W through a WG03 gateway flashed with replacement ESP32 firmware. That firmware exposes a TCP radio bridge. This is not evidence of an existing LAN service in stock RainPoint firmware, nor verified compatibility with this kit. No firmware has been replaced for this project.

Router control could redirect hub connections through DNS overrides or address translation. A local server must still satisfy the hub's server authentication and reproduce its application protocol. TLS certificate verification would generally prevent simple impersonation, while an encrypted pass-through proxy would remain cloud-dependent. Alibaba documents MQTT-TLS and server certificate verification; the client's cloud observer uses TLS, but this does not prove the physical hub uses the same transport or validation.

Next evidence would be a passive capture of the owner's hub traffic at the gateway: DNS names, destinations, ports and TLS handshakes. No physical-hub traffic capture or local-server redirection test has yet established feasibility. Port numbers alone are insufficient: Alibaba also documents TLS on port 1883. Router settings and firmware remain unchanged.
